Takunda Benhura proved his worth after bagging a hatrick in Ngezi Platinum Stars Under 19 3-1 victory over Golden Valley at Rimuka Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The prolific forward opened his account as early as the 12th minute after getting to the end of a Tinashe Mashaireni free-kick before heading the visitors into the lead.
With the encounter having gone to the deadlock with Ngezi under 19 carrying a 1 nil lead, Golden valley would restore parity after the restart as Innocent Mavherizhi took advantage of some sloppy marking to grab an equaliser after 51 minutes.
Benhura would then make another crucial contribution after firing home a second which saw the visitors regain the lead in the 55th minute. With Madamburo’s developmental side at full throttle Benhura would cap off a remarkable afternoon with another goal which saw him bag a hatrick and most importantly hand his side 3 valuable points.
Following his match winning performance Benhura was elated to strike good form given injury worries which restricted him from featuring prominently for the senior side, “ I am elated to have scored a hatrick although this is something that is not new to me as my job is to score goals. I graduated from the under 19’s to the first team but unfortunately injury hindered my progress and to return to the under 19 side and start scoring goals is encouraging for me”, said Benhura.
Benhura’s awareness and precision has seen him score 5 goals in his last two matches. The bustling forward grabbed a brace in the developmental sides two all draw against Karoi United at the Baobab Stadium last week and a hatrick against Golden valley took his goal tally to 5 in 2 matches.
